Fountaine Pajot is a French yard that has built sailing and power catamarans since 1976.
The company was founded in 1976 by Jean-François Fountaine and Yves Pajot, both racing sailors, together with Daniel Givon and Rémi Tristan. The early years belonged to racing multihulls and passenger boats; from the Louisiane 37 of 1983 the yard has concentrated on cruising catamarans. Today it builds sailing and power catamarans of roughly 12 to 36 metres, with production split between Aigrefeuille-d'Aunis, La Rochelle and Gujan-Mestras. The group has stayed independent, its shares are listed on Euronext Growth in Paris, and since 2018 it has also owned the monohull brand Dufour.
Boats from this brand are common in Adriatic charter fleets. You will come across older models such as the Lucia 40, Astréa 42, Elba 45 and Saba 50, as well as newer ones like the Isla 40, Tanna 47 and Aura 51. Charter versions are built with four or five cabins, which means less storage and less privacy than in the owner's Maestro layout. Like any catamaran they take two berths in a marina and cost more to charter than a monohull of similar length.
