Elansailing yachts
Elan is a Slovenian yard that builds sailing yachts of roughly 10 to 15 metres and, besides boats, also makes skis and composite parts.
About the brand
The company was established in 1945 in the village of Begunje na Gorenjskem as a ski maker. It came to the water through canoes and kayaks, has worked on fibreglass boats since the 1960s, and in the 1980s began building sailing yachts to designs by the Slovenian firm J&J Design. From the late 1990s the hulls were drawn by the British designer Rob Humphreys, a collaboration that ended together with the existing ranges. The hulls are laid up by vacuum infusion. Since 2019 the yard has belonged to the Luxembourg group KJK.
In charter
It was mainly the Impression line that was aimed at charter; in charter trim these were built with four cabins, more headroom below and the lines led into the cockpit. Elan's presence in Croatian bases is smaller than that of the big production brands. In March 2025 the yard halted production of the existing ranges and announced it would not return to them, so the fleets are no longer being topped up with new units.
