Azimutmotor yachts
Azimut is an Italian motor-yacht builder based in Avigliana near Turin, part of the Azimut Benetti group.
About the brand
The company was founded by Paolo Vitelli in 1969. It began by chartering and selling boats and started its own production in the second half of the 1970s. In 1985 the group bought the Benetti yard in Viareggio and has since operated under the joint name Azimut Benetti, which remains in the hands of the Vitelli family. The Azimut brand builds motor yachts of roughly 13 to 44 metres, from sporty models through flybridge boats to large three-deck units.
In charter
Azimut is chartered as a motor yacht with a skipper or full crew, and on the larger models a crew is a condition. Space and speed are paid for in fuel: the weekly rate and the fuel bill are both substantially higher than for a sailing yacht of comparable length, and bareboat versions are limited in charter fleets.
